Bunge and ŞMS Kopuz are strengthening their position in the food market with their specialized oil portfolio

Bunge and its long-standing distributor and strategic business partner in Turkey, ŞMS Kopuz, unveiled their new-generation portfolio of specialty oils developed for the food industry.

The event, held in Istanbul, was attended by Bunge Regional Commercial Leader Mesut Balık; ŞMS Kopuz Executive Board Member and CEO Burak Kopuz; ŞMS Kopuz Board Chairman Şemsi Kopuz; Bunge Asia Food Solutions General Commercial Leader Katherine Huang; industry representatives; and members of the press.

Bunge, which showcased its CBT Gold, Prestine series, FlexiBetter baking solutions, and “shea-based” specialty oil alternatives at the event, continues to strengthen its focus on investment and growth in the Turkish market with its next-generation portfolio. These products aim to address the growing need in Turkey for high-performance, sustainable, and efficient food production solutions.

FlexiBetter stands out as a solution developed for layered dough applications such as croissants, puff pastry, and cookies. Developed as an innovative alternative to milk fat, the product offers layering and a consistent processing experience even under challenging production conditions, providing manufacturers with operational ease.

CBT Gold, one of the solutions offered for the confectionery industry, combines the authentic taste of chocolate with the practicality of cocoa butter production. Thanks to its melting curve similar to that of cocoa butter, this special fat melts quickly in the mouth and releases a pleasant flavor; its tempering-free formulation significantly speeds up production processes.

The Prestine series also stands out in the premium filling oils category. Demonstrating high bloom resistance in hot climates, the series ensures a smooth texture and preserved flavor across a wide range of products, from pralines to wafers and from nut-based fillings to aerated products.

“Turkey ranks among the top 5 in the world in snack food exports”

Şemsi Kopuz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ŞMS Kopuz, said in comments to an AA reporter following the event that the snack food industry, in which his company operates, ranks among the world’s six most strategic sectors.

Kopuz noted that as consumer habits have changed, global trends have shifted toward snack foods, significantly boosting the sector, which is growing rapidly worldwide.

Pointing out that Turkey ranks among the world’s top five producers in this sector with $3.4 billion in exports, Kopuz stated that this figure is a source of pride for the confectionery industry.

Kopuz emphasized that, through the initiatives carried out by ŞMS Kopuz, Bunge—which has 200 years of accumulated expertise in the food industry—has integrated its innovations into Turkish manufacturers’ operations, thereby enhancing the Turkish food sector’s competitiveness in exports.

Referring to the products they were promoting, Kopuz noted the following:

“There is a concept known as ‘special plant-based butter.’ This is actually very important for vegan consumption, and this product contains zero trans fat. In this context, it has raised awareness about the products we consume at bakeries and chain stores.” We are enhancing our competitive edge in the market for spreadable creams made from the shea plant and in the ice cream industry. Shea is a plant-based alternative to cocoa butter, and its flavor is indistinguishable from that of cocoa butter. With this characteristic, it contributes to the development and competitiveness of the chocolate industry. Bunge is a global hub for innovation in this field. “Thanks to our infrastructure in Turkey, we serve as a bridge to make products available to our citizens at more affordable prices, while also driving momentum for our sector in global markets through exports. Our goal is to increase our export figure from $3.4 billion to $10 billion by the 2030s. We will continue on this path with this determination and resolve.”

“It will make things easier for customers”

Burak Kopuz, a member of the Executive Board and CEO of ŞMS Kopuz, also said that through their activities, they aim to bring global solutions in the food sector to Turkey.

Burak Kopuz noted that their goal is to offer these solutions to manufacturers in a way that provides a competitive advantage through innovative approaches, and he emphasized that they achieve this through the right products, positioning, and technical support.

Burak Kopuz noted that the new products they have launched will provide customers with convenience, improved performance, and a competitive edge in their formulations, adding, “Products and solutions like these will always be part of ŞMS Kopuz’s vision.” “We aim to continue demonstrating this vision in the future,” he said.
